AM READY TO PREACH I once assumed the gospel was simply what non-Christians must believe in order to be saved, while afterward we advance to deeper theological waters. But I've come to realize that the gospel isn't the first step in a stairway of truths, but more like the hub in a wheel of truth. As Tim Keller explains it, the gospel isn't simply the ABCs of Christianity, but the A-through-Z. In other words, once God rescues sinners, his plan isn't to steer them beyond the gospel, but to move them more deeply into it. In his letter to the Christians of Colossae, the apostle Paul portrays the gospel as the instrument of all continued growth and spiritual progress, even after s believer's conversion. "All over the world," he writes, "this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth" (Col. 1:6). After meditating on Paul's words, a friend told me that all our problems in life stem from our failure to apply the gospel. This means I can't really move forward unless I learn more thoroughly the gospel's content and how to apply it to all of life. Real change does not and cannot come independently of the gospel. God intends his Good News in Christ to mold and shape us at every point and in every way. It increasingly defines the way we think, feel, and live. Martin Luther often employed the phrase simul justus et peccator—"simultaneously justified and sinful." He understood that while he'd already been saved from sin's penalty, he was in daily need of salvation from sin's power. And since the gospel is the "power of God for salvation," he knew that even for the most saintly of saints, the gospel is wholly relevant and vitally necessary. This means heralded preachers need the gospel just as much as hardened pagans. In his book The Gospel for Real Life, Jerry Bridges picks up on this theme. The answer to sin, he says, isn't to try harder, but to comprehend more fully and clearly Christ's incredible work on the cross—then to live in more vital awareness of that grace day by day. The main problem in the Christian life, in other words, is not that we don't try hard enough to be good. It's that we haven't accepted the deep implications of the gospel and applied its powerful reality to all parts of our life. There are two challenges for preachers, those of us called to announce this good news. First is to help people understand theologically that the gospel doesn't just ignite the Christian life but it's also the fuel that keeps Christians going and growing every day. The second challenge, which is much harder for me than the first, is to help people understand how this works functionally. I address the second challenge by regularly asking myself this question: Since Jesus secured my pardon and absorbed the Father's wrath on my behalf so that "there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus," how does that impact my longing for approval, my tendency to be controlling, and my fear of the unknown ![]() Katika Biblia Yako Soma

Tumia Dakika Moja Kuubadilisha Ulimwengu Ombea taifa la Austria. Idadi ya watu ni 8,000,000. Asilimia 83% ni Wakatoliki. Kuna tatizo kubwa la uchawi, ulevi, na watu kujiua. Mungu anafanya kazi kubwa kuachilia ndani yetu tunda la Roho Mtakatifu, ambalo ni asili njema ya Yesu. Je, ni aina gani ya tunda analolitafuta katika maisha yetu?
1. Upendo, Lakini Wa Aina Gani?
Kuna aina nyingi za upendo kwa mfano kwenye Biblia tunakuta upendo wa familia au marafiki, upendo wa kuwa wa kwanza, upendo wa ndugu na dada, kupenda fedha, upendo wa mwanamke kwa familia yake, upendo wa mwanadamu na kupenda raha. Aina zote hizo ni za upendo wa kibinadamu, unaojulikana kama phileo. Lakini upendo mkuu wa Mungu una jina lingine, nalo ni agape. Anakupenda bila masharti, upendo wake hauongezeki wala kupungua kutokana na kushindwa au kushinda kwako. Anakupenda tu basi.
Mungu mwenyewe ni agape! (1 Yoh 4:8) Kwa upendo huo alimpenda Yesu (Yn 17:26) Mungu anawapenda watu kwa namna ileile na anaonesha upendo huo kwa kutoa zawadi ya Mwanaye (Yn 3:16) (1 Yoh 4:9, 10) Baba anayo agape kubwa zaidi kwa wale wanaompenda Mwana wake Yesu (Yn 14:21)
Upendo Wa Agape Ukitenda Kazi Wakati tulipokuwa bado wenye dhambi Kristo alitufia. Huo ni upendo wa agape (Rum 5:8). Ona jinsi Yesu alivyoonesha kwa ukamilifu upendo wa agape katika Yn 13:1-34. Yesu alituamuru kupendana, upendo wa agape, sisi kwa sisi, na kuwapenda watu wengine wote kwa upendo huohuo (Yn 13:34, 35) (1 The 3:12) (1 Kor 13:1-8).
Je, Maisha Yako Ya Upendo Yakoje? Je, unalazimika kwenda ukisukumwa na agape? (2 Kor 5:14-20) Jambo la kufanya na agape (1 Yoh 3:16-18) Mahali pengine pa kupata agape (Rum 5:5).
2. Furaha, Ya Bwana
Yesu amepakwa mafuta ya furaha (Ebr 1:9). Yesu alifurahia watu, harusi, na tafrija. Neno katika Lk 10:21 aliruka kwa furaha, na kwa kuiona furaha mbele kulimsaidia Yesu kustahimili Msalaba (Ebr 12:2).
Kumfuata Yesu Kunaleta Furaha (Lk 10:17) (Mdo 13:52) Miji inaweza kupata furaha (Mdo 8:8) Furaha ni lengo mojawapo la huduma (Flp 1:25) (2 Kor 1:24). Yesu anataka uwe na furaha tele. Ukitaka kujua ni kwa namna gani, soma kutoka Yn 15:1-11).
3. Amani, Kama Mto
Maneno ya Biblia eirene na shalom yana maana ya utulivu katika taifa; hakuna vita hata baina ya mtu na mtu, kuna usalama, kuna kustawi, na furaha. Nafsi ya mtu aliyeokolewa ina amani na haihofii lo lote kutoka kwa Mungu, imeridhika na maisha, na imehakikishiwa uzima wa millele. Yesu ndiye Mfalme wa amani, naye huwapa amani watu wasiokuwa nayo. Hatushangai basi ni kwanini Paulo huanza nyaraka zake kwa maombi ya amani, eirene (Isa 9:6) (2 The 3:16) (Lk 7:50; 8:48).
Jinsi Ya Kuipata Amani Ya Mungu Mtindo wa maisha wa kusifu katika mazingira yote. Jua kwamba Bwana yu karibu kukutana nawe. Usihofu, badala yake omba na kumwuliza Mungu. Amani yake itaulinda moyo wako na ufahamu wako.
4. Nipe Uvumilivu, Sasa!
Hapa kuna neno makrothumia lenye maana ya ustahimilivu mwingi, uvumilivu, na uwezo wa kuzuia hasira yako kwa muda mrefu unapochokozwa. Neno hilo lina maana ya ustahimilivu tunaokuwa nao tunaposubiri kwa muda mrefu tukiwangojea watu wenye mioyo migumu waje kwa Kristo. Mungu naye anastahimili kwa muda mrefu wakati tunapochelewa kumjua (Rum 2:4; 9:22)
Kwa Imani, Na Kwa Uvumilivu Tunapokea ahadi za Mungu (Ebr 6:12).
5. Fadhili Na Utuwema
Hapa kuna maneno mawili yanayofanana; chrestotes lenye maana ya utu wema katika kuhurumia, na la pili ni agathosune lenye maana ya kulifanyia kazi jambo lililo jema.
Yesu Alikuwa Mwema Na Alifadhili Yeye alikuwa chrestotes, alionesha utu wema na huruma kwa yule mwanamke mwenye dhambi lakini aliyekuwa tayari kutubu. Lakini pia aliweka utu wema, agathosune, kwenye matendo alipolitakasa hekalu (Lk 7:37-50) (Mt 21:12, 13). Soma Mdo 10:30 ili uone vitu viwili vilivyosababisha Yesu atiwe mafuta.
6. Uaminifu
Yesu aliwaahidi wanafunzi wake kwamba atawatangulia kwenda Galilaya. Alionesha uaminifu kwa kuitunza ahadi yake, na neno lenye maana hiyo ni pistis. Kwa maana katika kulitunza neno lake Yesu alilazimika kupitia Gethsemane, kwenda Msalabani, kaburini, kuzimu, Mbinguni, kufufuka na hatimaye Galilaya (Mt 26:32).
Mpango wa Mungu Ni Kukufanya Wewe Uwe mwaminifu Je, unaposema, ‘ndiyo’ unamaanisha, ‘ndiyo’? (Mt 5:37) Je, unazitunza ahadi zako? (Zab 15:4) Je, Mfalme atakuita wewe ‘mtumwa mwema na mwaminifu’? (Mt 25:21)
7. Upole
Neno praotes lina maana ya upole na unyenyekevu kama ule wa Yesu, unaotufanya sisi kukubaliana na yale yote Mungu anayotufanyia kuwa mema, hata kama hatuyapendi. Yesu ni Simba wa Yuda, lakini pia ni Mwanakondoo wa Mungu, mpole na mnyenyekevu mbele za Baba. Wenye upole wamebarikiwa (Mt 5:5). Tunapaswa kujifunza kutoka kwa Yesu (Mt11:29).
8. Je, Waweza Kuwa Na Kiasi?
Kama jibu ni ‘hapana’ basi unahitaji egkrateia, yaani kuwa na kiasi, ndiyo kusema uwezo wa kuudhibiti mwili wako dhidi ya tamaa.
Yesu Alijua Kusema Hapana! Ukisoma kutoka Lk 4:1-14 utaweza kuona jinsi alivyojidhibiti mwenyewe katika kipindi cha udhaifu. Wakati Yesu alipokuwa na njaa, Shetani alimwambia tumia vibaya uweza ulionao kwa hitaji lako binafsi la chakula. Yesu: HAPANA! Shetani alimjaribu Yesu kwa kumpa njia fupi na rahisi ya kuukwepa Msalaba. Yesu: HAPANA! Shetani alipendekeza njia ambayo Yesu angeweza kujipatia umaarufu haraka walipokuwa juu ya kinara cha hekalu. Yesu: HAPANA!
